The following is a list of some sexual harassing behaviors defined by California statutory law:
1. Sexual favors -- unwanted sexual advances or propositions
2. Verbal conduct -- epithets, slurs or derogatory comments, including comments about a person's body, appearance, or sexual activity
3. Physical conduct -- assault, impeding or blocking movement, or any physical interference with normal work or movement
4. Visual harassment -- leering looks, offensive gestures, or derogatory posters, cartoons, or drawings
*Also includes harassment based on gender, pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions
What if you feel you are being harassed by a manager but it is not about racism, sex, etc-you don't know why your manager is harassing you? I have worked as a nurse in a hospital in Northern Cal for the past 8 years and have been an excellent employee. I have been a nurse for 33 years and have never had any problems, nor has management ever had any reason to complain about me until the last 1-1/2 years. The things she says about me have no factual basis and I feel like she is trying to harass me enough that I will quit, yet I feel I have no recourse. HR literally said she is right because she is the manager & I am wrong & wouldn't even let me voice my concerns. Maybe I should just quit but I am so frustrated that a manager can just say anything about an employee, without any evidence to back it up.
